02
We scan the audio
tunescout samples short snippets across the video and fingerprints them against a database of millions of tracks. The video never has to play.
-
03
Get your tracklist
Every recognized song, each with a timestamp that jumps straight to the right second — plus links to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and SoundCloud.
Why tunescout
-
It hears what your ears barely can
Deep analysis uses AI source separation to strip voices from the audio and identify the music underneath. That faint song behind a YouTuber talking? Other tools shrug. tunescout names it.
-
The whole tracklist, not just one song
A full scan walks through the entire video and lists every track with its timestamp. Perfect for mixes, sets and vlogs — no more scrubbing back and forth with a recognition app in hand.
-
Faster than watching
We analyze small audio snippets instead of the whole video, so a 20-minute vlog takes about a minute. Videos we’ve seen before return instantly.
-
Zero friction, actually
No sign-up, no browser extension, no app, no paywall. Paste a link, press one button, done.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find out what song is playing in a YouTube video?
Paste the video URL into the box above and hit Find songs. Quick mode names the main song in a few seconds; a full scan goes through the whole video and returns every recognized track with timestamps.
Can it identify background music behind someone talking?
Yes — that’s our specialty. Enable Deep analysis and tunescout uses AI source separation to remove the voices, then fingerprints the remaining instrumental. It regularly finds songs that are inaudible to normal recognition.
Does it work for DJ sets, mixes and compilations?
Yes. The full scan samples the video at regular intervals and builds a tracklist with a timestamp for every song it recognizes — ideal for reconstructing set lists.
Do I need an account, extension or app?
No. tunescout runs entirely in your browser tab from a single text field. We don’t ask for an email, and there’s nothing to install.
Does the video play while it’s being analyzed?
No. tunescout fetches only the few seconds of audio it needs, directly — which is why results usually arrive faster than the music would take to play.
Why wasn’t my song recognized?
Recognition matches against a database of released music. Royalty-free stock tracks, unreleased edits and very obscure productions may simply not be in there. Try a full scan (more sampling points) and deep analysis (isolates the music) — together they catch most of what a quick pass misses.
Is tunescout free?
Yes — free while in beta, with no account and no usage caps. If we ever add paid features, the basics you see here stay free.
